In a recent television cricket programme, former Indian cricketer and BJP MP Gautam Gambhir recently said that current captain Virat Kohli might be good in his role but his deputy Rohit Sharma is better at it, ANI reported.

“Virat Kohli is not a bad captain, but Rohit Sharma is a better captain. There is a vast difference between the quality of captaincy,” Gambhir said on a cricket show.

“When we pick players for Indian team basis their IPL performance, then why can’t we pick IPL captains as team India’s captain? So then IPL shouldn’t be a parameter while judging the battling/bowling performances. So why do you pick players from IPL?” Gambhir added.

Notably, Sharma recently led team Mumbai Indians in IPL 2020 and won for the fifth time in UAE.

Both Kohli and Sharma are in Australia right now for upcoming India vs Australia 2020 series Down Under. Kohli is selected for all three squads and will return home after the opening Test at Adelaide. Sharma, on the other hand, has been selected only for the Test segment of the tour.
