Mumbai Indians’ captain Rohit Sharma was in a fine form in
an Indian Premier League (IPL) match against Kolkata Knight Riders at Sheikh
Zayed Stadium, Dubai, on Wednesday. Not only did he blow away the KKR bowlers
but also joined an elite list of players, who have hit 200 or more sixes in the
marquee tournament.
Kings XI Punjab’s Chris Gayle leads the list of most sixes
in the IPL with 326 sixes to his name. Next in the line is AB de Villiers of
Royal Challengers Bangalore, who has 214 sixes in his kitty. MS Dhoni, with 212
sixes, is placed third in the list, followed by Rohit Sharma who has hit 200
sixes.

Rohit Sharma, during his match-deciding knock of 80 off 54
balls, hit three stylish boundaries and six maximums at a strike rate of
148.15. Sharma’s and Suryakumar Yadav’s (47 off 28 balls) partnership in the
middle over did the trick for the Mumbai-based club.

The Rohit Sharma-led side took advantage of a weak KKR
bowling side as they posted a competitive 196-run target for the opposition.
KKR, who sent Shubman Gill and Sunil Narine to open the batting for them, could
not get the flow of runs going.
The KKR top-order failed to fire and give their team a
momentum as MI bowlers put on a disciplined show. In the end, KKR fell short of
the target, handing an easy 49-run victory to MI.
