Former NFL player Sergio Brown has been placed under arrest by investigators in relation to the death of his mother, who was discovered dead last month close to her suburban Chicago home.

According to the source, Brown, who had visited Mexico, was deported on Tuesday and placed under arrest by US law enforcement officials close to San Diego. This action was carried out in response to an Illinois arrest warrant.

Despite not being selected in the 2010 NFL Draft, Brown took advantage of a chance to sign as an undrafted free agent with the Patriots. In that same year, he played in 11 games for the Patriots and made his NFL debut. In 2013, after spending two seasons with the Patriots, he joined the Indianapolis Colts.
