Despite widespread media speculation about a divorce, Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik sent birthday greetings to Indian tennis star Sania Mirza. Since last week, there were rumours that the couple would eventually separate and get a divorce. The tennis star turned 36 on November 15.

Shoaib Malik, on November 15, shared a picture with Sania and wrote, “Happy Birthday to you @mirzasaniar Wishing you a very healthy & happy life! Enjoy the day to the fullest”

On November 12, Urduflix, a Pakistani OTT service, posted a message on Instagram announcing that Sania and Shoaib Malik will appear together on The Mirza Malik Show. Fans are speculating as to whether the rumours were true or if everything was just a publicity stunt, but Sania and Shoaib have not yet commented on it.

In 2010, Sania and Shoaib got married and moved to Dubai. They welcomed their son Izhaan in 2018. The two were reportedly finalizing the legal steps to dissolve their marriage one week ago, according to Pakistani media.

Geo News, a Pakistan-based news organization, reported that the couple chose not to declare their separation because they had commitments to several TV shows and other media outlets. Sania Mirza is a well-known face of Indian tennis around the world, and Shoaib Malik has played cricket for Pakistan for almost 20 years.

When asked about marrying an Indian, Shoaib Malik said, “In a marriage, you don’t concern yourself with where your partner is or from what is going on between the countries or in politics. If you love someone and get married to that person that should be all that matters, regardless of which country you come from.”
