Group E now stands in an incredible situation after Spain’s win against Costa Rica. Earlier, Japan defeated Germany 2-1 and are currently second in the group. If Japan wins their next match against Costa Rica and Germany loses against Spain, then Germany will leave the FIFA World Cup 2022 in the group stages in a repeat of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

Spain will play Germany next on Monday, November 28 and their last group-stage match against Japan will be on Friday, December 2.

Spain are the favorites to win both matches but the World Cup has already shown that disasters are always around the corner.
