Batting first, Indian opener and vice-captain KL Rahul was the first to fall. Pacer Chris Woakes, in the second over, got the ball to seam away. A little extra bounce made the batter uncomfortable and he ended up edging it for wicketkeeper Jos Buttler to take an easy catch.
KL Rahul scored five runs in as many balls with the help of a boundary.

After surviving a couple of drops, Rohit Sharma mistimed Sam Curran for a catch at long-on. He made 27 runs in 28 balls with the help of four boundaries.
With the two Indian openers failing against England, fans trolled them.
“Again Kl rahul and Rohit sharma are not big match players. They only perform in bi lateral series thats it. Rohit still performs a little bit, but KL is a fuckin fraud. Rohit played 27 balls 27 runs,” a Twitter user said.
“KL Rahul chose the big stage to show his loyalty towards the academy…He gone to pavilion after scoring gorgeous gorgeous 5 runs off just 5 balls… Professor KL on fire,” another one tweeted.
“We fans demand the immediate removal of Kl Rahul from every indian squad. As fans we have suffered enough because of him opening the batting for our lovely Indian team. How many times we have to suffer?” a third one added.
