Virat Kohli will be leading the Indian Cricket Team in the upcoming T20 World Cup that is being held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Oman. Along with Kohli, the Men in Blue will have MS Dhoni in their corner as team mentor. As India readies itself to kick-start its campaign against Pakistan on October 24. Here’s a quick look at the past five India vs Pakistan encounters.

1. 2007 T20 World Cup (group stage)

In the Group stage, India was placed alongside Scotland and Pakistan. In the match against Pakistan on September 14, Pakistan invited India to bat, who managed to put up a total score of 141/9 in 20 overs. Robin Uthappa had scored a fluent half-century.

In reply, India restricted Pakistan to 141/7 in 20 overs. For Pakistan, Misbah-ul-Haq scored 53 off 35 balls. As the match was tied, the winner of the match was decided via bowl-out that India won 3-0

2. 2007 T20 World Cup (final)

In the final, India batted first and managed to put up a competitive target of 157/5 in 20 overs. In reply, Pakistan seemed well on track to clinch the trophy, by a witty strategy by MS Dhoni guided India to a 5-run win over Pakistan, bowling them out for 152 in 19.3 overs.

3. 2012 T20 World Cup (Super 8)

In the Super Eight stage, batting first, Pakistan were restricted to a paltry 128 in 19.4 overs. Their highest scorer was Shoaib Malik. In reply, the Indian team overhauled the target in 17 over as Virat Kohli remained unbeaten on 78 off 61 balls. India won the encounter by 8 wickets

4. 2014 T20 World Cup (Super 10)

In the Super 10 stage, Pakistan scored 130/7 in 20 overs at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur. In reply, India overhauled the target in 18.3 overs, recording a 7-wicket victory.

5. 2016 T20 World Cup

In the Super 10 stage, Pakistan scored 118/5 in 18 overs as the number of overs were reduced to a wet outfield. In reply, India made light work of the opponent as they notched up a 6-wicket victory over Pakistan. This also marked India’s 11th victory against Pakistan in ICC World Cup – T20 and ODI formats.
