Both the teams recorded
a win in their opening fixture and Sri Lanka sits on top of the group A table because
of a better netter run rate.

The winner of this match will have one foot in the
next round (Super 12) and inch closer to a finish on top of Group A’s table.

Ireland cruised past Netherlands
in their opening fixture as Curtis Campher was the star of the match. The Irish
bowler led the charge against the Dutch as he took four wickets in four balls
and limited the target to 107 runs.

As for Sri Lanka, they
also breezed past Namibia by bowling them out for 96 runs and comfortably
chasing the target in 13.3 overs.

Ireland is not expected to make a lot of
changes to a side that has been functioning well. They will be counting on
Kevin O’brien and Balbirnie to put in big performances in their most important
fixture of Round 1.

Sri Lanka’s batting department has been a
cause of concern with some stability being injected thanks to Avishka Fernando.
In the bowling department Maheesh Theekshana stole the limelight in the opening
fixture by taking three wickets and will be hoping to emulate those numbers
against Ireland.
