The Kolkata
Knight Riders have added New Zealand wicketkeeper-batsman Tim Seifert to their
ranks to replace injured pacer Ali Khan, AFP reported Wednesday.

Khan was the first-ever US national to join the Indian Premier League after he was signed by the Kolkata outfit last month following a string of impressive performances in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL).

However, he did not manage to make a single appearance for the two-time IPL champions and has been ruled out due to an injury he sustained in the CPL.

Both Seifert and Khan were part of the CPL champions, the Trinbago Knight Riders.

Seifert has
been capped thrice in One Day Internationals (ODIs) and 24 times in Twenty20 Internationals
for the Black Caps. He will join the Eoin Morgan-led side, who are well-placed
to qualify for a playoff spot.

Kolkata are
fourth in the IPL points table with five wins from nine matches so far. Dinesh
Karthik stepped down as captain of the franchise on Friday last week.
