It is not just the NFL fans. Even Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce thinks that the football league is overdoing the whole Taylor Swift thing.

On the “New Heights” podcast, which Travis conducts with his older brother, Eagles center Jason Kelce, he said that the league and NBC, its television partner have been focusing too much on Swift during Chiefs games.

“They are overdoing it a bit for sure, especially my situation,” Travis said. “They’re just trying to have fun with it.” It was reported that NBC had 17 cutaway shots of Swift in the suite at MetLife Stadium during the Chiefs’ 23-20 win over the New York Jets during Sunday Night Football.

“Damn, that’s crazy,” Travis said. “That’s like once a drive. Mom told me everyone was enjoying themselves. They are not there to get thrown on the TV. You never know you get caught throwing down a big old cheeseburger and you look like an idiot. There are certain things you just don’t want to be on TV at all times.”

Jason noted that it be a conscious decision for NFL and NBC in order to boost female viewership. Swift showed in Chiefs games in Weeks 3 and 4 as fans witnessed the rumored romance between Travis and Taylor go from speculation to reality.

“The NFL is not used to celebrities coming to the games,” Jason said. “Basketball has it figured out … You show them once, let them know they’re there, maybe after a touchdown, but you can’t go overboard with it. People are there to watch the game.”

NFL fans criticized the league online after the game when it changed the bio on its Instagram account to read: “Chiefs are 2-0 as swifties.”
