While Virat Kohli could not star with the bat against Zimbabwe, he made headlines in the second innings when he dismissed Wesley Madhevere for a duck in the very first delivery. The catch received praises from fans and pundits alike, as he helped the Men in Blue to strike fast, without conceding any runs in the second innings.
It was also the former Indian captain’s 50th catch in the shortest format of the game. It happened in the very first delivery of the second innings, by Bhuvneshwar Kumar, when Zimbabwe opener Wesley Madhevere hit the ball in the covers and Kohli did not make any mistake as he dived forward to catch it.

However, while Madhevere’s dismissal surprised many, more was to come from the Indians. The next overs saw Rohit Sharma using the likes of Arshdeep Singh, Mohammad Shami and Hardik Pandya, who went on to register four more wickets under nine overs. At the time of writing this article, Zimbabwe have scored 53 runs for five wickets in 9.3 overs, with captain Craig Ervice, Regis Chakabva, Sean Williams and Tony Munyonga all returning to the pavilion.
Meanwhile, Kohli has been one of the most standout players in the ongoing edition of the T20 World Cup. He has scored 246 runs in five matches in the tournament, with unbeaten 82, 62 and 64 runs against Pakistan, Netherlands and Bangladesh. He has also been dismissed twice in the T20 World Cup 2022, once against South Africa and the second time against Zimbabwe on Sunday.
India had already reached the semifinals with the loss of South Africa to the Netherlands earlier in the day. They are joined by arch-rivals Pakistan in the next round from Group 2, who beat Bangladesh at Adelaide Oval earlier in the day.
