Mahendra Singh Dhoni and his match-winning sixes are something that can be played on repeat. May it be the ICC men’s cricket World Cup or any One-day International (ODI) match, Dhoni has managed to make the crowd go wild with his match-winning sixes. Turning back the clock, the Ranchi stalwart hit Siddarth Kaul for a maximum in an Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 match against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

With this six he not only took his team into the IPL play-offs but also gave the fans the cynosure that they were waiting to see for a long time.

As far as the match is concerned, MS Dhoni invited Sunrisers Hyderabad to bat after winning the toss. On a slow Sharjah pitch, the Hyderabad-based team could only manage to put up a paltry 134/7 in 20 overs.

In the run-chase, the Chennai-based team overhauled the target with two balls to go. Owing to this win, they qualified for the IPL play-offs.

CSK’s performance in the IPL 2021 so far could be considered one of their most dominant performances. In 2020, they were the first team to get knocked out of the tournament and in 2021, they became the first team to qualify for the play-offs.

Talking about the win, captain of three-time champions MS Dhoni said: “It means a lot, because the last time, we said we wanted to come back strong. We are known for that and there was a lot at stake,” Dhoni said in the post-match presentation.

“You won’t always win games and a lot didn’t go our way last time, and it’s important not to make excuses and we have done that this year.”

CSK pacer Josh Hazlewood was adjudged man of the match. He returned with figures of 3/24 in his stipulated four overs.
