In the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL), opening batsman Mayank Agarwal made his debut as Punjab Kings captain on Sunday following skipper KL Rahul’s absence over health issues. While, Agarwal scored a massive 99 run-knock off 54 balls, the team could only post a total of 166 runs.

In the 14th over, when batsman Deepak Hooda came in, they tried stealing few quick singles, but at one point, both the batsmen found themselves on the same end, in which Hooda got dismissed.

But Hooda’s dismissal created a lot of confusion in IPL fans. In Axar Patel’s over, after Agarwal hit the ball and started running for a quick single, so did Hooda. However, the skipper stopped and saw if Hetmyer had stopped the ball on the dive, which he did, so he started running back. Both Hooda and Agarwal ran towards the same end, Mayank tried to reach, but was well behind Hooda after the bails were off.

The fans deemed that Hooda was out as he was closer to the crease and he got dismissed as well after scoring just one run. But, the rules say that as both players did not cross and non-striker stump is broken, non-striker should be out, leaving fans in dilemma.
