Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola kicked a bottle toward the Leeds United bench after City missed a chance to score and immediately ran to apologize to them.

The two sides met in the Premier League on Wednesday at Elland Road. The Spanish tactician was seen showing his frustration as his side missed a chance. He first threw a bottle, and then kicked another which flew and hit one of Leed’s backroom staff.

City won the match three goals to one, thanks to a brace by Erling Haaland and one by Rodrigo. City have now got back the second spot in the league table, replacing Newcastle United. Arsenal continues to be on top with 40 points from 15 matches.

Guardiola made an eye-catching decision today by starting 18-year-old Rico Lewis as right-back ahead of Kyle Walker. He said before the match that Lewis’ Carabao Cup performance against Liverpool earned him a start against Leeds.

However, the fact that Walker played all matches for England in the FIFA World Cup might be the reason why he stayed on the bench at Elland Road.

“The way he played vs Liverpool, it’d be unfair not to let him play again,” he said.

Taling about Walker, Guardiola said: “Almost impossible to play better than him. He has to play again. We need Kyle/Joao as soon as possible. He’s in a perfect position to play.”

Manchester City will next play Everton while Leeds will go up against Newcastle United, on New Year’s Eve.
