Cordarrelle Patterson of the Atlanta Falcons scored a touchdown against the Los Angeles Chargers, minutes after returning to the field from a knee injury. The two sides lock horns at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Sunday. 

The 31-year-old now has 4 TD in his last five games. RB Tyler Allgeier rushed it for a 44-yard gain for Patterson to score the first touchdown of the game for the Falcons.

Patterson missed the last four games following knee surgery and still ranks as the leading rusher in Atlanta’s balanced attack with 340 yards in four games.

 Rookies Tyler Allgeier and Caleb Huntley split the carries in Patterson’s absence, gaining 324 and 265 rushing yards, respectively.

The Falcons on Saturday also signed defensive lineman Jalen Dalton from the practice squad. Safety Jovante Moffatt and offensive lineman Ryan Neuzil were elevated from the practice squad.

Offensive guard Elijah Wilkinson (knee) was placed on injured reserve. The team released outside linebacker Quinton Bell.

The 2022 NFL season is the 10 year for the player in the league and has played for four teams prior to signing with Atlanta in 2021. He was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in the first round of the 2013 NFL Draft.

The running back’s best game of the season came in a win against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 3 after he recorded 17 carries for 141 yards with an endzone play.

The Atlanta Falcons are atop the NFC South with a 4-4 record, ahead of the 2020 NFL Champions, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers who have struggled this season and have accumulated a 3-5 record.

The team secured a key win against the league’s best defensive side, the San Francisco 49ers when they restricted their opponents to just 14 points while scoring 28 points against them. Only one other team has scored points against the 49ers which is the Kansas City Chiefs who demolished the team with 44 points against them in their Week 7 game.
