Achraf Dari is a Moroccan defender who debuted in the FIFA World Cup 2022 at the third-place playoff match against the 2018 runners-up Croatia. He scored a goal in his World Cup debut, equalizing for Morocco in the ninth minute after they went down by a goal from Josko Gvardiol in the 7th minute. 

Morocco has produced one of the best underdog performances ever in the Qatar edition of the FIFA World Cup. They reached the semi-final beating giants like Belgium, Spain and Portugal on the way.

Although they fought bravely against France, they lost the match 2-0, thanks to goals by Theo Hernandez and Randa Kalo Muani.

Who is Achraf Dari?

Achraf Dari was born on May 6, 1999, in Casablanca, Morocco. He plays for the Ligue 1 club Brest in France. He began his footballing career with the Moroccan club Wydada AC. He won the CAF Champions League Final 2022 beating Egyptian club Al Ahly 2-0. It was his first international trophy with the club.

Before the start of the 2022-23 season, he signed for the Ligue 1 club Brest on a four-year contract. Brest reportedly paid around 2.7 million Euros to Wydad FC for the transfer. He made his debut in Ligue 1 on August 7, 2022, against RC Lens. He scored his first professional goal two weeks later against Angers SCO.

He debuted for the Morocco A’ national team in a 1-0 win over Saudi Arabia at the FIFA Arab Cup 2021. On June 12, 2022, he was called up to the Moroccan national football team. He debuted against Liberia in the qualification for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. He was named in the FIFA World Cup 202 23-man squad for Morocco on November 10, 2022.
