Drew Lock is an American football quarterback and currently plies his trade in the NFL with the Seattle Seahawks. He started his career in the NFL with the Denver Broncos when he was drafted by the Broncos in the 2nd round of the 2019 NFL Draft as the 42nd overall pick, and traded to the Seahawks in March 2022.

Who is Drew Lock?

Drew Lock was born on November 10, 1996, in Columbia, Missouri. He did his high school at Lee’s Summit High School in Lee’s Summit, Missouri. As a senior, he was Kansas City Star’s All-Metro Player of the year after he passed for 2,731 yards and 28 touchdowns. Rated as a four-star recruit, he committed to the University of Missouri to play his collegiate football for the Missouri Tigers from 2015-18. 

Lock immediately got into the thick of the action, playing in the season opener of his freshman year and going 6-for-10 for 138 yards and a touchdown in his college debut. By the end of his freshman year, he was the starting quarterback for the Tigers and finished the season with 129-of-263 for 1,332 yards and four touchdowns. In his sophomore season, Lock ranked first in the SEC in passing yards (3,399) and second in passing yards per game (283.3) and yards per completion (14.34) while also posting top-20 marks nationally in all three categories as well, peaking at 10th nationally with his 3,399 passing yards.

In 2017, set the SEC and Missouri Tigers’ record for passing touchdowns- making 44, and finished the season with 242-of-419 passing for 3,964 yards with 44 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. He ended his college career with a total of 99 touchdowns. 

At the end of his senior year, he declared for the 2019 NFL Draft and was snapped up by the Denver Broncos as the 42nd overall pick in the 2nd round of the draft.

After a thumb injury kept him from having the ideal preparations for his rookie season in the NFL, he was thrown in as the starting quarterback on his return to fitness and threw for 134 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception helping the Broncos to an emphatic last gasp 23-20 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers on his professional and NFL debut.  His 2019 win record of 4–1 as a starting quarterback earned him a tied record for most franchise wins by a rookie quarterback, and he needed just 5 games to achieve it.

The 2020 season presented a bumpier ride for Lock as he finished with a pass completion rate of 57.3%, which was the lowest amongst the 35 quarterbacks with at least 150 passing attempts that season. He did finish with a lead high 15 interceptions though, and with 16 touchdowns, despite playing just 13 games. 

His hit-n-miss performances in the 2020 season led the Broncos to acquire quarterback Teddy Bridgewater in 2021, and at the end of the pre-season, Bridgewater officially took over as the starting quarterback ahead of Lock. 

In March 2022, Lock was traded to the Seattle Seahawks.
