Jim Brown, former NFL star and actor, has died at the age of 87. His death was confirmed by his wife Monique Brown.

“It is with profound sadness that I announce the passing of my husband, Jim Brown. He passed away peacefully last night at our LA home. To the world he was an activist, actor and football star,” she wrote in an Instagram post on Friday.

“To our family, he was a loving and wonderful husband, father and grandfather. Our hearts are broken,” she added.

Jim Brown had a controversial past. He has been accused of violent behavior against women. He was charged with assaulting his then-girlfriend Eva Bohn-Chin.

Who is Eva Bohn-Chin?

Eva Bohn-Chin was 22 years old when she started dating the NFL star in 1968. She was a German-born fashion model.

One day, Brown’s neighbor in Hollywood heard an argument in his home and called 911. When the cops arrived, they found Eva semi-conscious beneath the balcony of his West Hollywood apartment. She was transported to USC County Medical Center and then to Cedars of Lebanon Hospital.

Brown was accused of throwing her off the balcony. He was arrested and charged with multiple offenses, including assault with intent to commit murder, felony battery on a peace officer, and obstructing justice. He was initially released on $12,500 bail.

However, the charge of assault with intent to commit murder was eventually dropped when the 22-year-old revealed that she fell from the balcony when the cops arrived.

Brown’s charges were then changed to resisting a deputy and he was fined $300.
