In Week 8 of the 2022 NFL season, Monday Night Football will see the Cleveland Browns face-off against the Cincinnati Bengals. Fans were shocked when Browns defensive end Myles Garrett entered the stadium wearing a Vecna costume from the hit Netflix series Stranger Things before the game.

The NFL posted a video to its social media accounts showing Myles Garrett wandering around the Stadium while dressed as Vecna. The 26-year-old was captured on camera entering FirstEnergy Stadium before the game while donning the Vecna mask, white shirt, and pants that were featured in the well-known Netflix series.

Who is Myles Garrett?

Myles Lorenz Garrett is a professional American footballer who plays for the Cleveland Browns of the National Football League (NFL). Hailed as a standout defensive prospect, Garrett was first selected by the Browns in the 2017 NFL Draft. He has also been named in two Pro Bowls and received first-team All-Pro honours in 2020.

Garrett announced his decision to enter the 2017 NFL Draft in 2016. During the selection process, he was projected to be a top ten player
to be selected and was ranked No. 1 on ESPN analyst Mel Kiper Jr.’s big board.

At the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis, the Browns player completed the majority of combine drills, but finally chose to skip the
three-cone drill and short shuttle.

Garrett’s 41” vertical jump at the NFL Scouting Combine was the top performance of all defensive linemen so far. The footballer also finished with the second-best performance in the bench press and broad jump.

The Browns defence also recorded the third-fastest 40-yard dash of all defensive linemen at the combine, which highly impressed scouts due to his size.

On March 30, 2017, Garrett attended Texas A&M’s Pro Day and chose to perform the 40-yard dash (4.65s), 20-yard dash (2.71), 10-yard dash (1.57s), and broad jump (10’6″).

As far as his placements go, Garrett was ranked the top overall prospect and defensive end during his selection by
Sports Illustrated, ESPN, Pro Football Focus, and DraftScout.com. Garrett was
also ranked the top edge rusher in the draft by NFL analyst Mike Mayock.

Garrett suffered a high ankle sprain during practice on September 7, 2017, due to which he had to miss the beginning of a crucial season. After missing the first four
games, Garrett played his first regular-season game on October 8 against the
New York Jets. Although the Browns lost the game to Jet by 17-14, Garrett sacked Josh McCown twice, including once on his first ever
NFL play.

After his blockbustor sack, Garrett was named a defensive captain for the 2018 season of the NFL.

In the week 11 of the 2018 season, Garrett was ejected after a fight. His actions led into an investigation by his head
coach and quarterback in interviews conducted immediately after the game.
Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield called Garrett’s action
“inexcusable”, while then Browns head coach Freddie Kitchens
expressed embarrassment.

Garrett later apologised for his actions calling them “foolish” and “out of character” , however, he thanked the players who backed him up. This led to NFL suspending the player indefinitely.

Garrett’s suspension was the second-longest in the NFL history. He reinstated from his suspension on February 12, 2020.
