American footballer Peyton Bowen was recruited by college team Oklahoma Sooners which represents University of Oklahoma on Thursday.

The 18-year-old was earlier seen contemplating on his options after he agreed to join Notre Dame Fighting Irish, switched to Oregon Ducks before finally sticking on the Sooners. Bowen is the second player to make an U-turn after an agreement with Ducks after Dante Moore also got the contract changed earlier in the week.

Who is Peyton Bowen?

Peyton Bowen is an American footballer playing as a defensive back. He ranks 13 on the 2023 consensus Top football recruits. He is the third child out of four for the couple Winston Bowen and Amee Bowen hailing from Denton City, Texas

Winston, hailing from Trinidad and Tobago is a law enforcement officer who previously worked as a counselor for juvenile officers. Amee, previously having worked in a bank, has been a teacher for the last 15 years. Peyton is currently a student of Guyer high school in Texas, Bowen is expected to graduate out of the school in 2023.

Considered a five-star prospect, the six footed player earned Under Armour All America Honors this year. His playing style is characterized by it’s high speed and mobility.  He has proven his worth in pressure situations against quality opposition and is considered a promising talent for the future.

Lack of clarity meant that though he agreed to play for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, he kept fans and analysts guessing before joining the Sooners.

“Soon after choosing Oregon yesterday morning, I came to the realization that the direction was not the best path for me. I immediately started to rethink my future,” said the rising star from Texas. “Oregon and Notre Dame faithful, I am sorry for how I handled this process,” he wrote. “Changing my decision on Signing Day, the hat pump fake, all of it could have been handled better. I can’t change what I did, but this experience is something that I will learn from,” he further added.
