Former NBA champion Tristan Thompson’s mother Andrea Thompson died after suffering a heart attack in her Toronto home on Thursday. She was rushed immediately to the hospital but was pronounced dead. Thompson was not in Toronto at the time, but left Los Angeles the moment he received the news, reported Sportskeeda.

Who is Tristan Thompson?

Tristan Thompson is a veteran NBA player and has been an active part of the league for more than a decade. The 31-year-old currently plays for the Chicago Bulls, which signed him on a single-season contract in February this year.

Born in Canada’s Ontario on March 13, 1991, Thompson attended the University of Texas and kicked off his career in sports, but not in basketball. He originally played football for the Texas Longhorns and was also adjudged an MVP. However, he later decided to declare his nomination for the NBA draft, where he was later picked fourth in round one in 2011.

Thompson gave an impressive performance in his rookie season. Media reports suggest he averaged 8.2 points and 6.5 rebounds per game. He was also declared the first ever Canadian to earn All-Rookie Team Honors in the NBA.

Thompson started dating Khloe Kardashian in 2016, with whom
he allegedly cheated on ex-girlfriend Jordan Craig. Khloe gave birth to their
daughter, True, on April 12, 2018. In February 2019, they separated. In 2020,
Thomson and Kardashian resumed their relationship after quarantining together
during the coronavirus pandemic. In June 2021, they announced that they had separated
again.

Thompson has switched teams multiple times between seasons. He has previously played with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Boston Celtics and Sacramento Kings. He will play the upcoming season with the Chicago Bulls.
