Who is Tyler Lockett?

Tyler Lockett is an American football player who plays for the Seattle Seahawks in the National Football League. He plays the wide receiver position. Lockett was drafted in the third round of the 2015 NFL Draft. He was born on September 28, 1992 in Tulsa City of Oklahoma state and attended Barnard Elementary, Carver Middle School, and then Booker T Washington High school in the same city. He also played basketball and participated in track and field during his school time. In 2011, he committed to play for the Kansas State Wildcats football team for his college career.

College Career: –

He played as a true freshman in 2011 and appeared in only 9 games due to a lacerated kidney that limited his playing time. Despite this, he managed 246 yards and three receiving touchdowns. He had a better sophomore season, scoring four touchdowns and receiving 687 yards. The player had an explosive junior year, receiving 1262 yards and scoring 11 touchdowns. Lockett rushed for 1515 yards and scored 11 touchdowns in his final year at Kansas State.

NFL Career: –

Lockett was chosen by the Seattle Seahawks in the third round (69th overall) of the 2015 NFL Draft. The team moved up to the #69 pick by trading their third-, fourth-, fifth-, and sixth-round picks (95th, 112th, 167th, and 181st overall) to the Washington Redskins.

Lockett had 41 receptions for 597 yards and a touchdown in 2016. In addition to his receiving numbers, he rushed for 114 yards this season. Following the season, Associated Press named him to the 2016 All-Pro Second Team.

Lockett returned five kickoffs for 197 yards, including a 57-yarder, in Week 11 of the 2017 NFL season, earning him NFC Special Teams Player of the Week. With 57 receptions for 965 yards and 10 touchdowns, he finished the 2018 season as the Seahawks’ leading receiver.

Lockett finished the 2019 season with 82 receptions for 1,057 yards and eight touchdowns and was named as an alternate to the Pro Bowl on January 17, 2020. Lockett signed a four-year, $69.2 million contract extension with the Seahawks on April 2, 2021, with $37 million guaranteed. He finished the season with 73 receptions for 1,175 yards and eight receiving touchdowns.
