Ray Lewis III, former Baltimore Ravens star Ray Lewis’ son, has died, TMZ Sports reported. He was 28 years old.

His cause of death has not been revealed yet.

Lewis III was a running back at Lake Mary Prep H.S. in Florida. He had 1898 rushing yards and 20 touchdowns against his name. The 28-year-old also had 676 yards and four touchdowns receiving during his senior season. He played for the Miami Hurricanes, Coastal Carolina Chanticleers and Virginia Union Panthers in college.

“Great young man and a better teammate. The entire Virginia Union University community is praying for the family as they deal with the loss of Ray,” Virginia Union Associate Head Coach Diego Ryland told TMZ Sports.

Ray Lewis III’s younger brother Rahsaan shared the news on Thursday.

“Really can’t believe I’m even typing this but RIP big brother. A true angel I pray your at peace now because IK how much you was rlly hurtin. I don’t and won’t ever have the words man cuz this pain right here….I love you I love you I love you. Your niece gone miss you but she will hear about u over and over just watch over us all big bruh be our guardian I promise I’ll make you smile and proud,” he said.

Lewis III was playing for the Wyoming Mustangs of the Champions Indoor Football league. He was also pursuing a career in the music industry.

Ray Lewis has not released a statement about his son’s passing.
