Williams was initially anticipated to be a useful addition to the Eagles’ defensive lineup, but after the Eagles selected cornerback Kelee Ringo in the fourth round of the Draft, their original plans for the position were changed.

The Eagles have also revealed the waiving/injury status for three players: cornerback Zech McPhearson, defensive tackle Noah Elliss, and wide receiver Tyrie Cleveland. Following their injuries in the second preseason game against the Browns, they made this choice.
