The Wimbledon audience booed Stefanos Tsitsipas during his match against Nick Kyrgios in their first-set tiebreak when he seemed to want to remove himself from the issue after a line judge went to the umpire to make a protest.

Tsitsipas seized an early lead in the set decider, but Kyrgios began to lose his cool with the umpire and a few of the line judges.

Soon after Tsitsipas grabbed a 4-2 lead in the tiebreak and the players went to swap ends, a line judge playing behind Kyrgios appeared to lodge a complaint to the umpire.

Commentators on the BBC suggested that she was informing the umpire of any inappropriate language uttered by Kyrgios.

All of this was happening when Kyrgios was waiting to serve and began mingling with the fans.

Tsitsipas waited on his side of the court as Kyrgios continued to postpone his serve in order to speak with his fans and apparently complain about the line judge behind him walking up to the umpire.

And the Greek tennis star apparently had had enough, as he moved away from his baseline to regroup.

Tsitsipas’ action angered Kyrgios, who shrugged his shoulders, and the Wimbledon audience was not impressed.

Before returning to the baseline, Tsitsipas was booed by people inside Court One.

Pat Cash, on the other hand, defended the world No. 6 for taking a break and getting away from the situation.

“Tsitsipas just did what he had to do, came up with some good shots at the right time, ignored all the chit-chat,” he remarked on BBC.

And the 23-year-old was able to regroup before capturing the first set and an early lead.
