Defense tackle Chris Jones is receiving a personal appeal from tight end Travis Kelce to join the Kansas City Chiefs.

Jones, a star defensive end, was initially scheduled to begin the last year of a four-year, $80 million deal. He has, however, been noticeably absent from training camp and the preseason because he is reportedly holding out for a deal worth more than $30 million.

Jones’ participation in the team’s home opener against the Detroit Lions on Thursday seems less and less possible as the talks between the Chiefs and Jones have come to a standstill.

As the standout continues between the team and DT, Chiefs TE Travis Kelce has come forward and urged Jones to return. In his New Heights podcast, while co-hosting Kelce said, “Oh man Chris, can you please come back? You’re really scaring me man. I don’t get it, you must know something that I don’t know because I just don’t get it. I really want to get another Super Bowl ring with you brother and this is me begging you to just come back and play football with the Chiefs.”

As per reports, Jones has been actively looking for a deal that would match or even top Aaron Donald’s stunning $31.67 million deal in terms of average annual value. The Chiefs have responded with an offer that falls between $22.5 million and $24 million, which is more in line with the contracts that Daron Payne, Jeffery Simmons, Dexter Lawrence, and Quinnen Williams recently inked during this offseason.
