DeAndre Hopkins and the Arizona Cardinals parted ways on Friday. The star wide receiver is now a free agent and will hopefully join a team in the coming weeks.

Hopkins is going to turn 31. He led the Cardinals’ WR chart since joining the team in 2020. His production was affected by injuries, a PED suspension and other factors. However, the star receiver’s skills can not be questioned.

DeAndre Hopkins played nine games in 2022. He managed to finish with 64 receptions for 717 yards and three touchdowns. He has the second-most receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns among active wide receivers.

The Buffalo Bills, Kansas City Chiefs, and New York Giants are seen as frontrunners to get Hopkins this off-season. Him leaving Arizona pops up a fantasy question: Are Marquise ‘Hollywood’ Brown’s stocks going up?

Brown is currently the top receiver in the Cardinals’ WR chart, which also features Rondale Moore, Zach Pascal, Greg Dortch and Michael Wilson. The team, led by quarterback Kyler Murray, had a flop season in 2022.

During DHop’s six-game suspension last season, Brown recorded 43 receptions for 485 yards and three touchdowns. The team also has Rondale Moore in their dressing room.

Moore, now on the flex radar, had a short season last year. He suffered a groin injury in December and could play eight games. He had 41 receptions for 414 yards.

DeAndre Hopkins leaving also impacts Murray’s fantasy stocks. The quarterback suffered an ACL tear in 2022 and is recovering. His availability in Week 1 is doubtful. However, whenever he returns, he is expected to feel his top WR’s loss.

With Murray out, Hopkins had managed with Colt McCoy or Trace McSorley – five games.

With DHop gone, the Cardinals clear $7.38 million in cap space in 2023, carry $22.6 million in dead cap, and will have removed Hopkins’ salary from their cap entirely in 2024, NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero reported. The team also saves $19.45 million in cash – with the WR not having any guaranteed money left on his deal.
