Veteran musician Bappi Lahiri died at the age of 69 on Tuesday night. From trailblazing disco music to adorning stylish gold jewellery, Bappi Lahiri was one of the most popular music artists in the industry.

In 2020, the disco pioneer featured in a quirky television commercial for CRED, a credit card bill payment company.

Uploaded on Twitter, the 45-seconds-long video shows the musician sitting in a studio setup, wearing his signature jewellery and a pair of blue-tinted sunglasses. He then sings the lyrics “Baby I’m your CVV you’re my OTP, when we come together payment is easy. Download CRED baby, download CRED baby. Credit limit may go down when we do zora zori, we will never default our love story. Download CRED baby, download CRED baby.”

Listening to the quirky lyrics, a trio of disappointed studio employees say, “Seriously?”, followed by “let’s just do a simple voiceover like ‘download CRED’.”
