The map of Dragon’s Dogma 2 will be four times as large as that of the first game, according to Capcom.

Game director Hideaki Itsuno provided additional information about the game’s gameplay that was shared as a part of the 2023 Capcom Showcase.

Players will engage in action RPG combat in the expansive medieval open environment that offers a high level of graphical fidelity thanks to the RE Engine.

Alongside revealing Dragon’s Dogma 2’s map size, Capcom confirmed the sequel would be a single player game but would feel like a cooperative experience thanks to Pawns: the NPC characters that fight alongside the player.

Despite the fact that Dragon’s Dogma 2 lacks true co-op features, you will never feel alone while playing thanks to AI-controlled pawns that do a variety of things, such as high-fiving you after a good battle. The goal of the designers was to create the impression that your virtual pawn party is made up of buddies.

Your primary pawn can be customized anyway you like, and you can add two more pawns to the party by borrowing them from other players—a component that was present in the original game. This means that a group adventure can only consist of a maximum of four characters.

Itsuno also shared some of Dragon’s Dogma 2’s almost Dungeons and Dragons-like mechanics, where players can seemingly progress further in a variety of ways. “What would happen if you destroyed that bridge? Or pull that monsters leg?,” he asked.

Last but not least, several character details were revealed, with two in particular being emphasized. Both Ulrika and Nadinia, who both wield bows and have strong ties to the Arisen, and who is a high priestess of the beastren, will play major roles in the game’s plot.

Fans are eager to see how Itsuno’s claim that you can develop “intricate relationships” with other in-game characters plays out. He made this claim in the showcase. Additionally, he mentioned certain new adversaries that are present across the vast new universe, and it appears that they have drawn inspiration for these creatures from numerous mythology.
