June will see some major changes such as in airfares, provident fund (PF) rules, and many more. Taxpayers, from this month, will get a new interface of the income tax department website to record their returns. It will also be mandatory to hallmark gold jewellery from this month. And there are many more changes to follow, in June.
Cheque rules: Positive pay confirmation is now mandatory in the Bank of Baroda for the customers. This came into effect to prevent fraudulent activities during payments made through cheques.
PF rules: Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has made Aadhaar seeding mandatory from June 1, failing which will lead to discontinuation of the contribution made by the employer to the account.
Airfare: Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) announced that the lower limit on airfares of domestic flights would be increased from 13% to 16%. The lower limit for flights of the duration of 40 minutes or lower will be raised from Rs 2,300 to Rs 2,600.
Google storage policy: New videos and photos that are uploaded on Google Photos will be stored in the free 15 GB storage that comes with every Google account.
Hallmarking of gold: Gold jewellery must be compulsorily hallmarked starting from June 15.
Income Tax Department: The department on June 7 will launch a new portal e-filing 2.0, which will replace the existing portal called incometaxindiafiling.gov.in. Prior to the launch, the e-filing services will be closed from June 1 to June 6.
