Actor Rhea Chakraborty’s brother Showik Chakraborty, who was arrested on Friday by the Narcotics Control Bureau, allegedly “dealt in drugs with many others”, the bureau told a Mumbai court on Saturday, reported PTI. The bureau, which is probing a drug angle related to actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case, further said that Showik had links with accused Abdel Basit Parihar, who is in NCB custody till September 9.
The anti-narcotics bureau told the court that Showik needs to be confronted with Rajput’s personal staff, Dipesh Sawant, and his sister Rhea, who is the main accused in the actor’s death case.

“We will be asking her (Rhea Chakraborty) to join the investigation, and maybe to some other people as well,” Mutha Ashok Jain, Deputy DG, South-Western Region, NCB, told reporters.
However, no new summon has been issued in connection with the case, news agency ANI reported quoting officials. “As of now no summon has been issued against anybody in this case, beyond whoever are under investigation. We are investigating,” KPS Malhotra, Deputy Director of the NCB told ANI.

The court on Saturday sent Showik and Sushant’s ex-house manager Samuel Miranda in NCB custody till September 9. They were arrested on Friday night under various sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act after being questioned for 10 hours.
They have been booked under sections 20(b) that deals with production, manufacture, possession, selling, purchase and transport of cannabis, 28 (punishment for attempt to commit offences), 29 (punishment for abetment and criminal conspiracy) and 27(a) that defines punishment for financing illicit traffic and harbouring offenders, the officer said.

Three central agencies, the NCB, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) are probing various angles linked to Sushant Singh Rajput’s death. The actor, 34, was found dead at his house in Mumbai’s Bandra on June 14. The Mumbai Police had initially said that the actor died due to suicide. However, the case was later handed over to the following a plea by Rajput’s family in the Supreme Court.
