Taika Waititi, the director of Thor: Love and Thunder, has discussed the prospect of directing a fifth film, adding that, if the God of Thunder were to return for another solo outing, he should face up against a villain at least as formidable as Hela from Ragnarök.

Thor 5 is now in development, according to insider @MyTimeToShineHello. While it appears that Waititi is in line to direct, his return may not be a done thing. Marvel Studios has yet to make any formal plans for the film.

Love and Thunder was neither the critical or commercial failure that film is frequently perceived to be, and the majority of MCU fans did not enjoy it. film has a 63% Rotten Tomatoes rating.

Ragnarök added a lot more humour to the series, but it seems that his sequel went far with the humour to the point where it was impossible to take the story seriously. This is despite the fact that it also dealt with some rather important emotional topics.

In light of Hemsworth’s own admission that he believes the film “just became too silly,” we can definitely anticipate a big shift in tone if he decides to take on the character again for a potential Thor 5.

Marvel Studios has yet to confirm a Thor 5 in the works. Not to mention that due to the ongoing Writers Guild of America (WGA) and actors’ union (SAG-AFTRA) strikes against the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP), Marvel is currently unable to do much in the way of development or production. A number of Marvel Studios productions—aside from those that have already finished filming—have been postponed or halted as a result of the strike.

Currently, Waititi is not connected to direct any MCU or Thor 5 coming up. His next film is the biographical sports comedy-drama, Next Goal Wins, which is due out November 17. He’s also attached to direct a Tower of Terror film for Disney and a currently planned, untitled Star Wars movie for Lucasfilm.
