The US Department of Justice formally announced that they have indicted a total of 15 people who were directly involved in the violence at the US Capitol.
The announcement came after a total of five people have been confirmed dead due to the violence, including a police officer who succumbed to the injuries sustained during the violence and a woman who was shot, reported AFP.
One of the indicted people were accused of possessing explosives that were made to act like napalm.
Others whose charges were unsealed include a man alleged to have entered the US Capitol with a loaded handgun, another who is accused of punching an officer, and a West Virginia state legislator who took part in storming the Congress, said Ken Cole, a federal prosecutor with the Washington US attorney’s office.
The Department of Justice added that it had also arrested several suspects who were a part of the violent riots including a man who had almost a dozen Molotov Cocktails which were enhanced with a styrofoam flame and an individual who invaded the chambers of Nancy Pelosi, the House Speaker.
