American actor Shia LaBeouf denied accusations
of sexual battery and assault launched in a civil lawsuit last year against him
by FKA Twigs, his ex-girlfriend and British musician. The lawsuit was filed in
a Los Angeles court in December 2020 and had sought damages for alleged sexual
battery, assault as well as emotional distress, according to a report by Reuters.

34-year-old LaBeouf is reportedly undergoing an
unspecified nature of treatment at present.

His attorney informed that the actor “denies
generally and specifically each and every allegation” in a court filing.

The document further states that the allegation of
sexual battery against LaBeouf was invalid, due to fact that “none of the acts
alleged were based on sex”.

The lawsuit by FKA Twigs further accused
the actor of emotional abuse during the year-long relationship stint in 2019.

Formerly a child star, LaBeouf had issued a statement
earlier, apologising for causing hurt to people around him throughout his phase
of alcoholism and aggression.

An unspecified amount of damage is sought in the
suit by FKA Twigs, who filed it under her birth-name Tahliah Barnett.

The British musician’s attorney, on the other hand,
was quoted as saying that LaBeouf’s legal activities, “while not surprising,
are poorly misguided self-help strategies”.
