Members of the K-pop band BTS received certificates of appointment from South Korean President Moon Jae-In ahead of the UN General Assembly (UNGA) session at the Blue House. BTS was able to join the President as his special envoy for public diplomacy ahead of the UNGA session in New York thanks to the credentials of appointment. BTS members RM, Jin, J-Hope, Jimin, Suga, V, and Jungkook were all given a diplomat passport and a fountain pen. At the worldwide event, they were supposed to begin their duties as the special presidential envoy for future generations and culture.

“As BTS has delivered messages of comfort and hope to the
entire world, its attendance at the UN General Assembly this time is expected
to serve as a meaningful opportunity to expand communication with future
generations around the world and draw their sympathy on major international issues,”
the Blue House had mentioned in a statement.

BTS (Bangtan Boys) is a South Korean boy band founded in 2010 and
debuted in 2013 under Big Hit Entertainment.  Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM,
Jimin, V, and Jungkook make up the septet, which co-writes and co-produces most
of their own material. Their musical approach has grown to cover a broad
spectrum of genres after beginning as a hip-hop ensemble.
