Florida First Lady Casey DeSantis spoke about many things in a video introducing her countrywide Mamas for DeSantis campaign, including gun control. She also spoke about how her husband, Republican presidential nominee Gov. Ron DeSantis, will “do for America what he did for us in Florida.”

“In America, we’ve witnessed a lot and put up with enough,” DeSantis says in the video. “We’ve been forced into silence, into compliance, told that we must trust the science. We have been told that we must deny truth, back down, and look the other way.”

She continued, “We will not allow you to exploit the innocence of our children to advance your agenda. When you come after our kids, we fight back. We are no longer silent. We are united. We are Mamas for DeSantis. …and we will elect @RonDeSantis President of the United States. Join our historic movement today: http://mamasfordesantis.com.”

This statement from Casey did not sit well with the public because Ron DeSantis had vowed in 2022 that Florida will enable people to carry weapons without permits ‘before I am done as governor’. “The legislature will get it done,” DeSantis said during a news conference in north Florida. “I can’t tell you if it’s going to be next week or six months, but I can tell you that before I am done as governor, we will have a signature on that.”

A Twitter user commented on the issue saying, “The irony of Casey DeSantis saying “when you come for our kids, we fight back” while her husband passes permitless carry in the mass shooting capitol of the country. Insane.”

Another social media user wrote, “This is the most delusional piece of propaganda I have seen. How dare you use children to push your agenda to destroy public schools and public health. Desantis will be as woeful as Trump was protecting us from the next pandemic. Trans kids in sports has been overblown to incite hatred. Hate is all you have. We choose competence and love.”

The ‘Mamas for DeSantis’ movement was first started last year in support of DeSantis’ second campaign for governor, which reportedly mobilized 1.1 million mothers. According to the website for the DeSantis campaign, it “is bringing together millions of fired-up mamas ready to stand up for their children’s futures and put an end to the woke mob’s hostile takeover of the lives of parents, children, and families across the nation.”
