1.  Home Alone (1990): Starting off with a classic, this Macaulay Culkin starrer is filled with laughs, the cons of having a massive family so you leave an 8-year-old behind, and of course, genius evil pranks to play on the local bad guys.

2.  Elf (2003): Ever wonder what would’ve been your life if you had accidentally been raised in the North Pole among fellow elves? This Will Ferrell starrer is an adult-sized elf’s journey to New York City to find his real father. Keep your tissues ready, as some elf moments might make you tear up.

3.  A Christmas Prince (2017): This Netflix original is a story of a young journalist, Amber, who is sent to get the inside scoop on the royal family, specifically the scandalous prince of Aldovia. This rom-com perfectly captures the Christmas spirit, with lush green trees, snowy mountains, and a prince who falls for the journalist looking for a fiery exposé on the royal family.

4.  The Polar Express (2004): Best watched with kids, this animated movie takes you on a ride (literally) to the North Pole. The journey begins as the train picks up kids from right outside their houses. Finally, the glorious moment arrives, a big old Santa with an even bigger bag of gifts. The Polar Express is a peek into the animated world of the North Pole on Christmas.

5.  Black Christmas (1974): If sappy romance, cringe comedies and cliché Christmas movies are not your thing, this holiday horror/slasher might just be what you’re looking for. Set in a sorority house during Christmas, it is a creepy and thrilling ride of young girls being slashed and kidnapped by an anonymous caller. It’s gripping, unsettling, and a must watch for slasher fanatics.

While these are some quintessential Christmas movies to watch, we believe every movie is a Christmas movie if it’s watched in a merry spirit. So, no judgement if you feel like watching Spiderman on a Christmas morning, we totally get it.
