Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, has praised the successful DART Mission carried out by NASA with a meme he shared on Twitter. Musk is known to be vocal about his opinions on the social media platform he had earlier intended to buy.

Check out his post right here:

In the meme, which is originally a snapshot of the infamous “slapgate” incident at this year’s Academy Awards, a picture of the asteroid Dimorphos has been morphed over the face of comedian Chris Rock while NASA’s logo appears on the face of Academy Award winner Will Smith. Rock was slapped by Smith at the Oscars for making a joke on his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, and Musk’s tweet can be interpreted as NASA slapping Dimorphos right out of its path.

During the livestream of the DART Mission, which has since been declared successful by the US space agency, the commentator had said, “Usually NASA spacecraft are intended to operate for many years, or even decades, but not Dart. Dart was built to be destroyed. Dart is a mission of firsts, proving that a spacecraft can autonomously seek, find and approach a target in space that’s so far away we don’t even know what it looks like.”

Video footage of the post-collision condition of Dimorphos and DART will be made available later through an Italian Space Agency satellite that released itself from DART on September 11 and had been travelling behind it.
