A security guard has been taken into custody after one person was shot multiple times at Greenbriar Mall, Atlanta on Wednesday, local media reports cited police.

The shooting occurred inside a phone store just before 3:30 PM. The victim, unidentified, was shot three times. The severity of their injuries is not known.

According to Atlanta Police, one of their officers was performing a second duty at the mall when he heard gunfire. At the same moment, 911 reports began to come in reporting a person being shot in the same spot.

Officers were called, and after conducting an investigation, they learned that a private security guard and another guy were having a disagreement inside a mall store. According to investigators, when the argument heated up, the security guard shot the man many times.

The name of those involved has not been released. Police also did not reveal the exact location of where the shooting occurred at the mall.

A representative for Hendon Properties, the mall’s managing partner, claimed that the shooting took place inside the men’s apparel store Nacirema. According to officials, APD was able to capture the subject after acting fast. At the mall, the victim received medical assistance before being brought to the hospital.

They added that everyone inside the mall was securely evacuated and that the argument never spread to the “common areas” of the mall. The mall will close down for the remainder of the day and reopen on Thursday with regular business hours.
