Senator John Fetterman (D-PA) snapped at political analyst Nate Silver on Monday over his comments on the new Senate dress code.
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) has eased up the Senate’s informal dress code which essentially allows lawmakers to wear whatever they want on the floor. Fetterman is known for often donning shorts and a dark collared short-sleeved shirt or a hoodie around the Capitol. It is a casual look he had also brought to the campaign trail last year.
Silver appeared to poke fun at Fetterman by tweeting that he was going to start “a new political party for people who don’t give a shit either about how John Fetterman dresses or what Lauren Boebert does in a theater.”
“I dress like you predict,” Fetterman said in a response to Silver’s joke, which went viral.
A number of Republicans have criticized the new Senate dress code for being too casual. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene specifically took a jibe at Fetterman over the new rule. She wrote X, formerly known as Twitter: “The Senate no longer enforcing a dress code for Senators to appease Fetterman is disgraceful. Dress code is one of society’s standards that set etiquette and respect for our institutions. Stop lowering the bar!”

Silver announced earlier this year he would be leaving ABC News and the popular FiveThirtyEight blog which was created by him when his deal with the network got over. Silver’s comments about Boebert came after the Colorado Republican was heavily criticized over her behavior at a “Beetlejuice” performance. The behavior also resulted in her being kicked out of the event.
Boebert was seen with her boyfriend Quinn Gallagher at the event. They were seen displaying PDA when they both attended a performance at the Buell Theater in Colorado. Gallagher and Boebert were reportedly seen getting frisky with each other during their Colorado date. the Republican lawmaker’s date was seen grabbing her breast while she appeared to rub his crotch during the performance.
