At least 5 people were killed and 6 others injured in a shooting at a bank in Louisville, Kentucky. The police confirmed that the injured have been rushed to a local hospital. The suspect has also died.

Commercial property in the downtown area has been cordoned off as the public has been advised to stay away from a part of East Main. Video from the area showed the heavy presence of armed police officers. It is not sure how the suspect ended up dead or whether the culprit is one of the five deceased.

Authorities responded to the reports of an active shooter in the area. Louisville’s Old National Bank is in the city’s downtown area where the incident took place. Some of the videos showed damaged glass and discarded medical equipment.

Craig Greenberg, the city’s mayor, arrived in the area shortly after the shooting. “I was at the stoplight, and the first thing that I saw – there was a guy across the street at the intersection and he was lying down at the entrance to a hotel,” an eyewitness told local Fox affiliate WDRB.

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear said on Twitter that he was headed to the scene of the shooting. “Please pray for all of the families impacted and for the city of Louisville,” he added.

FBI is currently on the scene working with the local law enforcement agents. Louisville police said, that there is no active danger at this time. The suspect was described as a “lone shooter.” No other information, including the name of the shooter, has been revealed.
