The Tampa Bay Lightning won their second straight Stanley Cup title after defeating the Montreal Canadiens 1-0 on Wednesday night, to give a region becoming known as Champa Bay its chief professional sports title in less than a year.

This time the Lightning get to celebrate their win in front of their fans. A crowd of 18,110 packed Amalie Arena while thousands more gathered on a plaza outside the building to celebrate. Fans stood for the final two minutes of goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy’s fifth consecutive shutout in a series-clinching win.

Defenseman Victor Hedman said that winning a Stanley Cup was one thing. “But doing it in front of our fans, family means the world. It’s out of this world. ”

To celebrate the victory, the city of Tampa will host a boat parade Monday. The parade will start at 11 a.m. along the Riverwalk. Fans will get a chance to see the Stanley Cup in person during the Lightning’s Championship boat parade happening Monday.

White House also took Twitter to wish the Tampa Bay Lightning for their second straight Stanley Cup, where it shared President Biden’s tweet and wrote, “CHAMPA BAY”.

  According to the NHL, the Stanley Cup trophy weighs in at a whopping 34.5 pounds, which is five times the weight of the Lombardi. Lord Stanley of Preston was the sixth governor-general of Canada from 1888 to 1893 and after his first hockey game in 1889, he decided to donate the cup to be awarded to the league’s winning team. 

The Dominion Hockey Challenge Cup was introduced in the year 1892 and later became known as the Stanley Cup. the original Lord Stanley Dominion Cup is held in the vault room at the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto.
