Are you one of those who had to opt for Work From Home? Do you feel working during the pandemic is hectic and longer than before? Well, if you feel like you are working more, you are not alone.

Amid the pandemic, the world is witnessing one of the largest work-from-home experiments in history. A group of researchers from Harvard Business School and New York University has come up with a study that looks into the implications of working without an office.

The study which had compared the employee routine before and after the COVID-19 lockdown suggests that the workday lasted 48.5 minutes longer, the number of meetings increased about 13% and people sent an average of 1.4 more emails per day to their colleagues.

“People have adjusted their work patterns,” said Jeff Polzer, a professor in the organizational behavior department at Harvard Business School, one of the five co-authors of the research report.

While the average workday length had returned to pre-pandemic levels in Los Angeles and Chicago, longer days continued to be the norm in New York City, San Jose and most of Europe, as per the study.

It collected data from 3.1 million people working at more than 21,000 companies across 16 cities in the Middle East, Europe and North America.
