Boulder Police Department tweeted on Thursday that the Boulder mass shootout suspect Ahmad Al Aliwi Alissa was arrested and formally put into custody using handcuffs that belonged to late Officer Eric Talley who was killed in the shootout. 

The tweet said, “Officers informed him(suspect) the handcuffs used that day were those of Officer Eric Talley.”

“Though this was a small gesture, we hope it is the start of the healing process that so many of us need at this time,” the second tweet added.

Alissa open fired in the Boulder supermarket killing 10 people including Officer Talley. Tally was the first officer to reach the crime scene. 

The suspect is accused of randomly killing 10 people using an AR-15-style pistol, reported CNN. He was formally taken into custody the next day after the shooting post receiving medical treatment for being shot in his leg.

The Boulder Police chief while appreciating Tally said, “I have to tell you the heroic action of this officer when he responded to the scene. He didn’t have to go into policing, but he felt a higher calling.”
