Regis University students were left shocked on Tuesday night, September 6, 2022, when three unidentified persons were seen on the Northwest Denver campus, one of whom was holding a long gun, possibly a shotgun. Following the reports, Denver police began clearing the building and securing the campus using patrols, the university said in a tweet.

Since reports of the unidentified armed men became public, the Northwest Denver Campus has been put on lockdown. The unidentified armed men were first spotted sometime before 9:30 pm on Tuesday, followed by a tweet from the university, which also notified the Denver Police Department. Regis University also revealed that the men were heading toward the Fieldhouse and urged students to get to a secure location and remain inside until the threat is over.

“RU Alert: Northwest Denver Campus Lockdown. Three men were seen on campus heading east toward the Fieldhouse; one of them was seen carrying a long gun, suspected to be a shotgun. Get to a secure location and remain indoors until the all clear. DPD has been notified,” the tweet read.

A subsequent tweet revealed that the Denver Police Department has reached the campus. It also urged the students to contact 911 if they see any suspicious thing.

“DPD is on campus. Stay in a secured location. If you see anything suspicious contact 911. Updates to follow,” the second tweet read.

Another Twitter update shared by the handle revealed that the Denver police officials are using vehicle patrol and entry teams to clear the campus and buildings. It also urged the students to heed all commands of the police if contacted and not to approach the officers if not asked to do so.

Social media users picked up the news from Regis University soon and comments regarding the safety of the students and others in the area started to gather.

“Armed men seen on Regis University Campus in Denver. If you know anyone in the area, please let them know they are to seek cover and lock down. #Denver,” one user tweeted.
