In light of the possible indictment of Donald Trump, Ron DeSantis poked fun at his political rival. The Republican Florida Governor, 44, who hopes to challenge Trump in the 2024 presidential race, later refused to comment on the ex-President’s legal issues hours before his potential arrest.

DeSantis blasted the prosecutor overseeing the case while also stressing that it entails “porn star hush money payments.”

When asked about his opponent’s potential arrest, DeSantis initially used the chance to jab at Trump. “I don’t know what goes into paying hush money to a porn star or to secure silence over some time of the alleged affair,” he said on Monday. “I just – I can’t speak to that.”

Later on, though, he shifted the attention from his competitor to New York District Attorney Alvin Bragg, referring to the prosecutor’s willingness to press charges as a political agenda. “But what I can speak is that you have a prosecutor who is ignoring crimes happening every single day in his jurisdiction and he chooses to go back many, many years ago to try to use something about porn star hush money payments. You know, that’s an example of pursuing a political agenda,” DeSantis continued.

On Monday, a reporter asked the governor of Florida if he would take part in the prospective extradition of Donald Trump to New York City.

“We are not involved in this, won’t be involved in this,” DeSantis replied. “I have no interest in getting involved in some type of manufactured circus.”

The remarks sparked political criticism from Trump and his friends, who are attempting to exert pressure on Republicans for assistance at a time when Trump faces the possibility of becoming the first former president to be charged in history.
