The Shorewood Police department is investigating a shooting that took place earlier today at Metro Market. Authorities detained the suspect, and the individual has been taken into custody.

Local police didn’t release the identity of the person and the investigation is ongoing.

The Metro Market shooting took place at 4075 N Oakland Avenue, and a Twitter user – Urban Suburban Fire Incident Reporting – noted that authorities were pursuing a shooting suspect near WB North Avenue from Water Tower for a shooting that took place in the 4000 block N Oakland. The profile then updated there was a vehicle crash at North and Bremen, resulting in multiple injuries and one person was taken into custody.

Shorewood is a village in Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, and the state notoriously has some of the weakest gun laws in the United States, including no law requiring background checks for unlicensed gun sales. Existing laws prohibiting domestic abusers from obtaining firearms remain incomplete and there are no Extreme Risk Laws which allow family members and members of law enforcement to petition for the removal of a firearm from a dangerous situation.

Meanwhile, the state continues advocating for more guns, as one Twitter profile reported -earlier in the day- that after a shooting in a small Minnesota city, there was a shooter on the loose, and armed veterans went and guarded the local school. The profile touted this as “an example of self-policing and community protection”. They added, “You need guns to protect against guns. ‘No Guns Allowed’ signs don’t work.”

Yesterday, a man from Slinger, Wisconsin, wanted in a child sex exploitation probe, had an armed confrontation with state troopers and shot himself by the end of the ordeal. Authorities noted that troopers had tried to arrest the 41-year-old, as he left his house near Highway 60 and Parkway Drive.
