One person has been seriously injured in a shooting incident in  Pittsburg and Lyons, north of Spokane County, Washington, the sheriffs PIO Mark Gregory said. The shooting involved a deputy sheriff.

KHQ Local news, quoting SCSO undersheriff John Nowels, has been put on administrative leave. It is standard procedure to put deputies on leave during investigations. 

Nowels further said that two deputies responded to reports of a wanted suspect in a storage unit at the intersection of Pittsburg and Lyons. He added that the two confirmed that the suspect had a felony warrant for possession of a stolen vehicle, as well as two other misdemeanors.

The responding officers engaged with the suspect inside the storage unit facility at about 7 AM. 

“One deputy parked his vehicle in front of the suspect’s pickup truck. The suspect then jumped out of the bed of a pickup truck, into the driver’s seat, and began to reverse,” Nowels said, as per KHQ Local news.

Nowels added that the other deputy was behind the pick up truck. Then, the deputies fired shots. The pickup truck then then ran against a building in the storage facility, and additional shots were fired. The suspect was shot. 

The deputies on scene and other responders took the suspect to the hospital. However, his identity and severity of the injuries is not known yet. 

SCSO undersheriff John Nowels added that he could only share preliminary information. The Spokane Police Department and the Spokane Independent Investigative Response Team are conducting an investigation.

Meanwhile, A drive-by shooting in Longmont, Colorado, left a 13-year-old boy dead and another teen wounded. Police have arrested a 19-year-old for the incident. 

A man was killed and another injured following a shooting in Hollywood, Saturday afternoon. It was reported around 2:15 PM on the 6500 block of Sunset Boulevard, as per the Los Angeles Police Department.
