A SWAT team has been dispatched to the Ford Kansas City plant assembly facility in Claycomo, Missouri.

According to early accounts, there was a “active shooter” scenario. Sheriffs have recently clarified that no reported injuries have occurred.

Police stated that they are “investigating a possible threat” at the facility, which is located on the US 69 Highway. As the issue continues, the highway has been closed.

According to the local news station KCTV5, it has received multiple calls from worried staff. They allege that a man locked himself in a lavatory while claiming to be armed with explosives, a rifle and a revolver.

According to reports, a Special Tactics and Response Team has entered the structure and is looking for the individual.

“The Clay County Sheriff’s Office is looking into a potential threat at the Ford plant in Claycomo,” Clay County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Sarah Boyd said. “Today, July 18, at around 5:20 PM, a call from a guy claiming to be equipped with explosives, a rifle, and a handgun was received by Ford’s safety and risk management team. He claimed that he was trapped in the restroom on the second floor of the paint company.”

Today, July 18, at around 5:20 PM, a call from a guy claiming to be equipped with explosives, a rifle, and a handgun was received by Ford’s safety and risk management team. He claimed that he was trapped in the restroom on the second floor of the paint company.

Ford has shut down all operations and evacuated the facility. Additionally, the night shift’s output has been suspended. The 69 Highway road in front of the Ford facility has been blocked off.

The caller identified himself as an unhappy employee. He mentioned a name that does not belong to a real paint department employee. He did mention his boss, and it was the right name.

“Our Special Tactics and Response Team is entering the plant to find the source of the threat. It is possible this is a swatting call, but we will treat the threat as real until we can prove otherwise. Our negotiators are on scene, as well, and have been unable to make contact”, Boyd said.

Nick Sloan from KMBC said: “Regarding the possible threat at the Ford Assembly plant in Claycomo, nothing has changed. No confirmed gunshots. No reported injuries. No sightings of anyone with a gun.”
