US President Joe Biden announced on Monday that Susan Rice, the domestic policy adviser for the White House, is leaving after two years. While highlighting her significant status as a key domestic and national security adviser in two administrations, Biden commended her work on immigration and healthcare.

When Biden was vice president, Susan Rice worked for then-President Barack Obama as both the US’s ambassador to the UN and the national security adviser. “As the only person to serve as both National Security Advisor and Domestic Policy Advisor, Susan’s record of public service makes history,” Biden said.

Her appointment to manage domestic objectives “surprised a lot of people,” according to Biden, but he praised her work on healthcare, gun and police reform, student debt, child care, and immigration, among other topics. The decision is being taken as Biden gets ready to formally declare his candidature for reelection as early as Tuesday.

After promising to reverse nearly all of the restrictive measures put in place under his Republican predecessor, Donald Trump, the Democrat has encountered some resistance on the subject, and the issue is likely to come up again during the 2024 presidential race.

Rice played an influential role in shaping Biden’s immigration policy, tending to favor more restrictive measures at the U.S.-Mexico border.

Now, Republicans have begun propagating the absurd allegation that Susan Rice was sacked from the Biden Administration as his domestic policy adviser on social media. This is just another baseless claim.

The truth is that Susan Rice has made the decision to leave her position. She had previously admitted to coworkers that when she joined management, she planned to stay for two years. This decision seems to have been made in advance and had nothing to do with how well she was doing her job.
